Easy DIY Balloon Garlands, Arches and Swags

Balloons have been around since…well I actually have no idea but since before my lifetime began, and likely yours. Simple helium balloons are cheap and easy and add a lot of color and volume – but then one day came the balloon arches and swags. Professionally curated, not only were they expensive to commission but the delivery fee for them rivaled the balloons and together rendered them untouchable for most people, especially pragmatic people like me (ummm, so how much for balloons for a 2-hour party?). Well, fast forward to today and birthday parties have completely reinvented themselves over the last 6 months. Good in some ways, and a bummer in others. But regardless of whether it’s a fourth birthday or a fortieth birthday, we all want to help our friends and family celebrate as best we can! While the party may be short on attendees, we’re seeing decor that packs some punch! So have you wondered about all these balloon arches and swags you see on social media? You will be shocked how many are DIY balloon garlands, swags and arches!

The short of the long is that you need to use a special (and cheap!) DIY Balloon garland tape, mix 2-3 different balloons sizes or more (12 inch balloons, 5 inch balloons, etc.) and using glue dots, fill in the gaps with more balloons or small embellishments. Since they aren’t helium, the process can easily be done at home, in advance and isn’t very expensive at all!

In fact, you can now buy a complete DIY Party balloon swag kit or DIY arch kit including an electric balloon pump, tape, glue dots, starter balloons and a little handheld gadget making tying them off easy all for around $25-$30 bucks! Scroll to the bottom to see the recommended kits!

If you’re making a small swag and are willing to hand pump them, you can grab it for a little less…but honestly not much less so you really are better off investing in the electric pump! Once you have the pump, the theme options you can create are endless!

I asked around and gathered some DIY party balloon guides from the pros! Best kept secret…you can do this yourself!
