We were headed to The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (or LACMA as its perhaps better known) with the kids and before we even got to the museum we saw the La Brea Tar Pits and stopped in.
Now I’m embarrassed to tell you but I’ve lived in LA for 19 years and I’ve never been to the La Brea Tar Pits 🤦🏼♀️. Its a great stop for the kids and it’s essentially located in a huge park…we saw, we played, rode a sloth, sang in an amphitheater and even saw a real live excavation going on! We didn’t buy tickets or take a tour, we just explored on our own…what a GREAT Free thing to do in Los Angeles.
As we approached LACMA the Boulder was calling to the boys so we ventured over we played in the lampposts and looked at a new sculpture being installed…then we ran across what (to my kids) looked like a rocket shaped play house…and finally ventured under the boulder. The boys ran and ran some more.
We got some drinks at one of the outdoor restaurants and as we looked for the ticket counter realized we had spent 3 hours playing outside and didn’t even have time to go in, LOL.
Next time LACMA.
